too bad it doesn't show album artwork for GrowlTunes
http://collect3.com.au/hissapp/ already does this and it's been out for a while.
I did mention Hiss in the Readme but didn't go into much detail what I didn't like about it. Growl was build from the beginning with a plugin API to support different display styles. Why should someone replace the entire Growl app just to enable one display style?

With MountainGrowl you keep full Growl support (remote notifications, e-mail, Prowl, ....) and you get the integration with Mountain Lion.

Good to know. I saw the mention of Hiss in the readme, but there wasn't really enough detail to judge Hiss vs MountainGrowl.
Hey, I believe Hiss does not require Growl installed to redirect notifications. But this requires Growl to be installed, right? So one solution is free and the other isn't.
Good point!

On the other hand growl is completely open source & Hiss isn't. I'm just providing an alternative here. At the end it's all about freedom of choice :)

Very nice. Much smoother than Hiss (which won't play with growlnotify).
FYI: I just updated to v0.1.1

If the click action did not work for you this should fix it.

Is there any way to forward the app's icon? Without that visual bit, it kinda ruins it for me.
That's the bummer, you're right.

Unfortunately there's no official API to feed in the app icon. But since we're on the desktop, there might be some other ways to go. You can rest assured that I've not yet given up on this :)

For me, a huge advantage over hiss is that you can choose which notifications you see. No more 'contact has come online' from skype.
Can someone explain how the Notification Center would be useful for someone who isn't in the iEcosystem? I use gmail and choose Android but live on a Mac. It seems to serve me only to clutter my toolbar. Am I missing something?
Websites can ask for your permission to send you notifications, which will also show up in the notification center.

So if gmail added those changes it would be possible for gmail to notify you of new email without you opening your browser.

How exactly do you install this? I've downloaded the archive, unzipped it, and gone through the folder, but I don't see what specific file I have to open (or how). Thanks, and sorry for the n00bish question!
