The government scolding a company for this is not only "hostile and political" but is also effectively an admission that imposing the additional tax on the citizenry is unpopular enough to be politically damaging.

That's not Amazon's fault.

Back in my day, corporations were supposed to behave in their own self-interest. The only say the government had in their operation was how they were regulated and which legislation impacted them.

Go figure that American leadership demands centralized planning to compete with the CCP.

First government dictates terms and interferes with trade.

Then it tries to silence anyone who points out the harm this is causing.

A clear cut example of fascism/socialism/communism/whatever --- in any cause, it certainly isn't freedom or democracy.
