I'm flagging OP's HN submission as self-promotion that's against the site's guidelines, and wondering what upvote farm brought it to the front page.

I must be missing something -- what does the Uber Driver settings page have that the other apps don't have, other than the lack of an "Always" option? How does that translate to "can always get my location even when in the background regardless of permission"?
