Would like to see the NYC own up to being a major player as opposed to just being blown around. (E.g. “free speech” might really be better off not behind the paywall if it really is so important)
In 2016 it would be have been tempting to blame Trump on TV, to see him as the fulfillment of Boorstein’s prophecy in The Image. People did blame Cambridge Analytica for that and in fact I nuked most of my socials in Dec 2016 but things have gone further in the 8 years since.
It makes so much sense to be careful with the international information highway, while focusing on local robotics and small tribe-like distributed communities. i can see this future. perhaps it also has the franchises from the Diamond Age
