This is an embarrassing misunderstanding/misframing of basically...everything. Non-deterministic machines are going to non-determine. But the mental model of "escape human control" is like believing a house is haunted.
I find these discussions hard to decipher because usually the headline is not capturing what really happened. At the same time, I really can easily imagine many scenarios where AI agents cause catastrophic harm in the real world.
