> reasonable overtime rules

“Reasonable,” to whom?

Many companies actually set up new subsidiaries in other states. Other nations usually require it.

You want employees to have freedom to enjoy their passion at work.
The main difference between CA and TX overtime laws is the exemption limit. It's twice as high in CA. That won't be an issue in either state unless you're grossly underpaying your employees though.

Of course, complying with a bunch of differing state laws is exactly the niche for services like Deel. They handle all of the HR nonsense in return for a small management fee and a few percent added to the costs.

TLDR; If you hire employees in blue states, your Texas LLC won't protect you from blue state labor laws.

...and keep your cactus to yourself, thanks
