Ask HN: Has Google Weather forecasting changed?

3 points by windyshrimp ↗ HN
I often google "[city] weather" but have been getting results that are very different from what other sources (such as weather.com) give.

Checking Palo Alto for today, there is a 10 degree fahrenheit difference of 74 vs 84.

I noticed it first last week and since then, Google Weather has been consistently forecasting colder by >5 degrees.

Checking the forecast for Chicago for the upcoming week shows similar results. Comparing google weather to weather.com, accuweather, and wunderground, google weather's high is always colder by >5 degrees.

Anyone know what the methodology is or a reason for this discrepancy?

they're probably using a new temperature-reading AI that processes a video feed of a computer screen that displays the temperature as determined by an AI-powered thermometer that uses AI to convert a heat profile into a vector embedding.
