Ask HN: Does Gemini create an empty project in Google Cloud?

I posted over in Reddit about this [0], and also contacted Google support myself.

This seems like a very odd way to set things up, and I wondered if anyone from Google itself would be more likely to see this and explain what's happening?

Thanks - I’m not really sure how else to summarise it in the title. It’s probably not clear because it’s a rather confusing thing to be happening (hence the question).
