Pivoting to "direct audit" - hopefully it works out.
Isn't direct file the sort of efficiency that we elected Trump (who brought in Elon as DOGE chief) to find and promulgate? Reducing red tape and costing citizens less? This seems like terrible optics.
Optics? Who took any of their promises or excuses literally? Make filing taxes hurt, that's their mantra even before MAGA.

I'm starting to think Trump doesn't actually care about efficiency or about governing well at all
Given you are referring to our most regarded civilians, I don’t see how your answer isn’t obvious.
I'm very confused about your comment; putting Trump in office is the nation-scale version of choosing to have brain damage. Why would any intelligent person think anything good or efficient would come out of that?
True but getting the full picture is hard when everyone is falling over each other to post the daily orange man bad. Not a single publication gave news of how Trump defeated eu 2 days back
They think privatization of all the things is what brings efficiency (or at least brings them nice donations)
This is a revenue generating move for going after wealthy taxpayers that don’t use TurboTax.

Direct File doesn’t enforce accuracy or detect fraud; it facilitates how returns are submitted.

Im sure AI will find new ways to harass people who cant afford the waste of time and resources needed.
