If he's depending on a fresh graduate to generate "real traction" then maybe (probably?) his role isn't for him.
As far as I'm aware AI image generation tools are springing up all over. I don't particularly care about them, but I've played with maybe seven or eight, mostly sourced from "the 10 best image generating AIs" kinda lists.
