Apple CEO Tim Cook presents President Trump with an American-made gold gift from Apple as the company announces a $100 billion investment in the U.S.
I think those in power gravitate towards anti democratic governments. It's much easier to bribe your way to getting what you want compared to competing for success.
Well, I think specifically autocratic governments with a single king/generalissimo/Dear Leader; this sort of flattery-based approach (it's hardly even real bribery, really; the value of the item is more or less beside the point in this case) does not work with _all_ types of un/anti-democratic governments.
I am not certain whether Trump recognizes how absurd this looks. People are playing him and his narcissism like a fiddle. Trump is too stupid to realize it. And he has no shame.
he says the base is 24 carat gold, but it's gotta be just a thin layer, right? It doesn't look heavy enough to be solid gold.
I can't tell if this is meant as allegory.
... Bloody hell, I thought this was parody at first. I'm actually surprised that his advisors aren't pushing back on this sort of thing; it's a _very_ bad look.
