We are building the products and services that bring AI into the physical world.

Similar to living organisms, and unlike traditional AI, which operate in abstract digital environments, embodied AI enables robots to learn by doing.

It seems very plausible to me that the next step function change in AI is if you can connect perception, cognition, and action through direct physical interaction with the world.

But more than anything, what stands out to me is the optimism in improving life for humans as articulated by their guiding principles.

  3. robo taxis (by 2019)

Less than 10% of Tesla's value is in its existing car and battery business. The company's car business is being left behind by the competition. Tesla's revenue hasn't grown in three years, losing market share and not producing new models. Chinese companies are far ahead in battery technology.

Rest is hype.

ps. Google, Amazon Robotics, Hyundai/Boston Dynamics, even Nvidia are ahead of Tesla in robotics research.

It seems that Tesla's real strength is producing grandiose projections for success in it's ever changing target market.

As an example, in 2024 they projected a 30% increase in auto sales for 2025. Back in reality, sales thus far this year have reportedly declined by double digits.
