For the image compression shown I am willing to bet JPEG XL will do far better and even bit their compression ratio.

The video author claims JPG is "impossible to beat", I think he's a few decades out of date.

Neat technique nontheless, I've seen gaussian splatting compression schemes done before but not at this level of quality.
