Ask HN: Should search platforms harden themselves against false ad claims?

I've lost complete faith in the notion that search engines actually return results for the query I've submitted. If this were ever proven to be so, I wonder if it would open companies up to claims of false advertisement. It wouldn't be a matter of the results being "good" or "accurate", but of the company falsely promising to run a query that it has no intention of running.
