I want to see the other way around: Search for flights with either "I want to earn X miles" or "miles are worth X cents to me" criteria added. Often the cheapest flights I find are worse deals because they don't have the frequent flyer miles "kickback".
Agreed. I wish ITA had the Google Flights speed and interface for browsing multiple cities and dates but still allowed the advanced routing rules. Unfortunately, I doubt people like us doing MRs are their target audience.
Have they changed it? ITA used to be very popular with the FlyerTalk MR crowd. I used to use it for the searching flights stage (getting info but not booking).
I think the best matrix would be something like OAG, listing all flights that each airline is currently offering, but also listing prices on each flight.
So while we don't have a way explore flights based on say, earn maximum miles per dollar, we do sort by what ee call WisePrice - which actually does factor in the "kickback" you get from miles earned on the flight. We include any elite status or cabin class bonuses too -- and you can value miles at any rate you'd like in your preferences.

A pipe dream if ever there was one.
Also, please add support for multi-city itineraries.
