One might imagine that a German bank's regulator, or insurance company, or something, would require that they have a working alarm system for their vault...

The whole thing actually looks very amateurish, poured concrete and a concrete-block wall and then wooden racking for the valuables, not individual lockboxes? That approximately describes my basement.

It also looks like they used a tungsten-carbide core drill which means there can't have been any, or very effective, reinforcing steel in there.
