I think I know the answer to this question but curious of other perspectives - why is it that like 40 years ago, right-leaning folks wanted to conserve institutions, and now that's flipped.
it does I dunno explain or is correlated with why the political compass doesn't use the term liberal or conservative (it uses libertarian but obviously not the same thing.). It's kind of interesting that I think that maybe 10 years ago I would have said left / liberal / democrat and right / conservative / Republican were synonyms, and now I would say those are very different words with very different meanings.
