It's inevitable something like this would happen. Lots of people are angry and just want to take action, but unless you're protesting agents who are on-duty or doxxed, you're going to have false positives and harass innocent people.
Why is the news agency so surprised? Is it surprising that the civilians are a little on the edge after what ICE perpetrated in Minneapolis? A few mistaken identities are to be expected and it could happen to practically anyone. The good news is that the mob had enough sense to limit it to a verbal encounter, seriously consider their claims and leave the engineers physically unharmed. Has ICE ever listened to their victims when they protested that they were US citizens? How many innocent people have these mobs killed or seriously injured so far? The article gives you the impression that they are some sort of violent pillaging marauders. Is journalistic integrity a joke?
Meanwhile, the citizens need to calm down a little bit down. Anger and apprehension don't mix well.
