Ask HN: Will going into programming as a profession take all the fun out of it?

Throughout my teenage years my only real passion was coding. Now the time has come for me to start thinking about potential jobs. My obvious job of choice would be a software engineer, but I fear that if I do become one, it'll take all the joy out of it and I'll loose my only real hobby.
