Truly a massive disappointment.

So many intellectuals that appear to dedicate their lives to developing coherent and consistent models of how to think and how to act in this world, who nonetheless decided that conversing with a known child rapist is A-OK.

The only people I've seen who have come out ahead morally are Nassim Taleb and Norman Finkelstein.

Gives a whole new meaning to Manufacturing Consent.

I'm just glad I never jumped on the Chomsky cheerleading squad.
It really is quite amazing and disgusting how truly interconnected so many of the 'celebrity' figures were tied to Epstein's network, all of them working to undermine our institutions in assistance to an absolutely heinous individual. None of the rich or wealthy have any actual morals or any sort of sensibilities, it's all just a facade.
He was no "individual". It's all a network, he was just tasked with the booze and ladies/children.
My theory about what made Epstein attractive to these guys is along the lines of what makes apparently educated people speak to Joe Rogan and Lex Fridman for hours: They forge low-risk environments to sound smart at.

Not a novel observation. But when you throw in the draw of private islands and illicit sex romps Epstein was a one-stop shop of gratification for the depraved and sophistic.
