VPN Suggestions

Can anyone suggest a decent VPN service for a family of 4 (2 kids) to protect against malware and not expose IP address? I am kind of new to this and started exploring VPN services only now. So an ELI5 on how to protect oneself and tips for security are much much appreciated.

I am considering Proton VPN (SEO, no other reason). Would love more suggestions. Thanks!
