French railway operator tests solar on train tracks (pv-magazine.com) 9 points by svilen_dobrev 5mo ago ↗ HN
[–] ungreased0675 5mo ago ↗ This idea seems like it has a lot of potential. I’m curious about the long-term durability and maintenance needs. Railroad tracks seem like a harsh environment for glass panels to live in. [–] hasperdi 5mo ago ↗ It's a dumb idea actually, as these panels will be covered in brake dust, sand, leaves, etc.If you're interested, check EEVblog's video on this

[–] evan_a_a 5mo ago ↗ What a waste of taxpayer dollars. There’s endless amounts of open land to put real solar farms on but no, let’s spend money on this nonsense.https://youtu.be/7vItnxhWRqw
