Well they are building new silicon fab facilities on a big scale as fast as they can, but these things take time. And are very expensive, with not that many different companies involved.

With new construction that's way more expensive than ever, which locks in high costs like never before.

But that's not the point, doing it as fast as possible puts enough additional pressure on the final price of the product to be about twice what it would have been otherwise.

big tech is going to do everything it can to ensure the end of Wintel is also the end of open computing.

Future is all proprietary chips & toolchains behind paywalls, with private compute ownership illegal for the peasant class.
