PayPal apparently does not understand how Gmail email addresses work (old.reddit.com)

tl;dr: PayPal support doesn't understand and can't be convinced that gmail.com email addresses that differ only in "."s belong to the same account.

Sounds more like Paypal doesn't care to work around the fact that Gmail doesn't understand how e-mail addresses work.
