I would have become a music producer if I hadn't developed tinnitus in both ears.
Even after spending 3 years learning how to compose and arrange music, finding my way around a DAW and building sounds ground up from the waveform level - I still never managed to make something as polished as what I got to in an hour with Lyria 3.
One thing led to another, and now there's 6 versions of "996" on my computer - originally inspired from Daft Punk's discography.
Fiddling with Lyria 3 is extremely fun - even though it does tend to completely ignore instructions from time to time. The "Ed Sheeran" and "Unintended French" versions are testament to this.
I couldn't generate an entire song just yet unfortunately - the model caps at an output time of 30 seconds - but its only a matter of time.
The question that continues to haunt me, however - is that who gets the credit for making these? Me, or the model? What does this mean for the artist community at large?
Open questions so far - we're in very early days just yet.
