The Linux Kernel Will Soon Be MIT-Licensed and Copyleft Will Be Dead (lowendbox.com) 5 points by Cider9986 6mo ago ↗ HN
[–] replooda 6mo ago ↗ Oh, I don't doubt there's about three hundred people vibe-recoding the Linux kernel right now, but what reasonable person would trust a remotely important system with it?
[–] malklera 6mo ago ↗ The problem I see with all the rewrites is, long term, will the people that created the project stick around 5 or 10 years from now? Will companies be more willing to donate time/money if they can actually monetize a product built on top of an MIT license?I think right now the answer is "not enough"
