Ask HN: Upcoming Unconferences / Hacker Spaces in India

Hi hacky types!

I'm Kevin, a senior at Portland State University.

I am going to be traveling to India Feb-Apr 2013. And I would like to get linked up with the hackers there, because I am writing an undergrad thesis (12 years coming) about hackers / open source / geeks etc.

I haven't narrowed my topic completely yet, but am interested in how Open Source software has been implemented by universities and other institutions in India. If you have any other ideas as to interesting things to do some research on, let me know!

As far as I know now, I am flying into Delhi, and then my plans are pretty open. I would like to spend some time in Bangalore and Mumbai. I have friends who are flying in at about the same time who are planning on heading to this Kumbh Mela festival in Allahabad, but I am not committed to that plan.

Summary: I am traveling to India in hopes of doing some research about the hacking community and/or open source. I want to meet you!
