Ask HN: Could a game help people intuitively learn Chinese characters?

I’ve been thinking about how Chinese characters are usually learned — mostly through memorization.

But many characters are actually compositional, built from smaller components with structural patterns.

This made me wonder:

Could interacting with the structure help people learn more intuitively?

I’ve been experimenting with a small game where:

* You place components on a grid

* Combine them into real characters Formed characters affect the game state

* The goal isn’t to replace learning, but to see if this makes the structure easier to “feel”.

I’m curious:

If you’re learning Chinese, would something like this actually help? Or would it just feel like a distraction from real study?
