Ah, that. When we did that back in the day, the Old Ones, the ones who made us, called that the "deer in the headlights" expression.
Gen-X has their own version: it used to drive me nuts when I’d say ‘thank you’ to someone and their response was ‘uh-huh’. In what world is that a response? No ‘you’re welcome’?
I enjoy a good-natured ribbing of the "youths these days" as much as any generation, but I don't think I've ever actually encountered someone doing this.
The socials dunking on GenZ the last few weeks. This is like the 5 site I have seen this on in 3 weeks. Internet is dead.

GenZ have hit their "gold star for nothing", "avocado toast addicted wackadoos", "rock music and comic books rotted their brain" stage in life where the olds drag down the youth to feel better about being old.
