I’ve been thinking a lot about the recent shift toward "Agentic Engineering" and the viral metrics being shared by leadership at firms like YC.
We’re seeing dashboards boasting 30k+ lines of code generated per day, which feels like a total regression to the 1980s "Lines of Code" productivity trap. I wanted to write a piece that explores why this volume is actually a systemic risk to feedback loops and maintenance, rather than a win for velocity.
I’ve been seeing these kind of metrics adopted at my own job and heard from friends it’s happening at theirs too.
