Enforcing new limits and retiring Opus 4.6 Fast from Copilot Pro+ (github.blog)

I've been having an awful time with Copilot recently. Consistent user of the highest plan and I'm suddenly hit with "weekly" rate limits that are days at a time.

The new rate limit system is completely broken. See https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/180092 for a lot of affected users.

Some report wait times of 50 or 100 hours. I had the issue that it shows "wait 20 seconds" but (on retry) it counts down one second every 10-20 seconds.

And all this for a service where you pay per use.

Anthropic are also looking at removing Claude Code from their pro subscription. Will only be included at their $100/m and up packages. Looks like these AI companies are starting to realise they have to actually be profitable at some point and can't just rely on hype and investment forever.
