Subtitles in VLC (VLsub via OpenSubtitles) no longer works (old.reddit.com)

Since yesterday, the VLsub returns 401. I registered for a free account, but the downloaded subtitles had only ads in them, asking to "upgrade" to VIP.

Apparently they changed their policy recently, and now they're asking for $20/year (for VIP).
