Ask HN: What makes you register on a website?

One of the biggest challenges for B2C founders is gaining trust on their platforms.

Especially in recent months, a bunch of obviously AI-generated websites have been developed, but people are still registering.

So, I want to know when you enter a site, what encourages you to create an account?

i dont mind as long as it provides a decent trial period, something i can try and go, rather that pay first

I think the most important thing is letting the users know what the site is before making an account. For example even with all of the pushes from Meta to mandate accounts, they still let you browse their platforms for a few minutes before nudging you to make an account.

I will only make an account if I don't need to supply more personal information than is absolutely necessary and if I'm certain that doing so is necessary to get something that I actually need.
