The worst instances I've seen of this are with news sites where a story literally is performance art. You need to scroll endlessly through the writeup and as you do single paragraphs appear and disappear, diagrams animate themselves, images zoom around, it's playing a -ing video game when I want to read a news story about the economic impact of recent changes in the government's fiscal policy (yes, I lead a very boring life). I don't want a video game, I want the news, that's why you used to be called a newspaper and not Bally Midway.
