The EU is making the Right to Repair the new standard in Europe (ec.social-network.europa.eu)

This should include the ability to unlock smartphone bootloaders, at least for those that are no longer supported.

I do wonder how the EC decides what to work on. Were EU citizens polled, and repairability of devices and appliances ranked as one of the top issues in their lives, for example? What's the process?
