Really surprising that Inverness and Skye have only 16 pubs considering how much tourism the area has. I felt like it wasn't lacking for pubs but maybe I saw all 16...

I was in Inverness a few weeks ago, seems like the tourist season is on, and it was fairly hard to find a pub other than downtown. The other interesting thing is that a lot of them don't seem to not go by the advertised opening times, which later on made total sense based on what an old man told me about the Highlands having their own time.

There were about as many golf courses as pubs when I went through there - but that was a while back.

OK, I think this will be close to an all time record: Leopoldsburg (Belgium, 14k inhabitants) had more than 150 pubs in the 1980s.

Hmm, this dataset is pretty poor. There are at least 3 pubs near me that are missing.

Why use FHRS as the source rather than OSM? OSM isn't perfect either but for my area at least it seems a lot more comprehensive.

Technically, this is only the pub density in Great Britain - the UK is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland", and Northern Ireland is not covered, so...

Hi I built the pub density map.

I think the data from FHRS is more comprehensive than on OSM as it covers bars, clubs etc. If you have an alcohol license you appear in the FHRS data

I know there have been some access issues today, I think it is down to Cloudflare changing its bot protection.

The app is to compare pub density in your area, it doesn't have a search facility - there are loads of alternatives to search for a pub.

Pub tourism is one of my favorite ways to spend a day in London. The pub "density" isn't all it's cracked up to be. To be able to make it to the next pub for a bathroom (and to preserve my ability to walk) I've found half pints to be ideal. Ideally, accompanied here and there by pub food.

Bar staff don't universally view half pint orders with respect.

Apparently not all 8 year old daughters view half pint orders with respect either. It didn't help it was served in one of those mini pint glasses but she ripped me for getting a "tiny lager" while my partner enjoyed a pint. I wasn't aware we'd passed on anything about drinking culture to her yet, but it seems to start early!
