Why do you think they invest so much messaging bandwith on disparaging CA (and NYC, and all 'blue' places)? It's hard to reconcile the superiority of the right-wing policies with the overwhelming economic and quality-of-life advantages of 'blue' places.

It's two companies, not a state. OpenAI ($122B) + Anthropic ($95B) = $217B of California's $366B.

Per the OP, New York is second with $27 billion, so even without OpenAI and Anthropic at the figures you list, California's lead is still enormous: $149B to $27B.
