I think that's the point of it being "real-valued"? If I play Penultima, sometimes I set rules allowing fractional movement, though for practical reasons I choose to allow 1/2 integer (i.e. corners) rather than continuous movement, a computer version doesn't have the same limitations as human hands and eyes in this regard.
