My Thoughts on Owning Hardware and Software, Starting with Phones
Everyone should 'own' their hardware & software. I don't consider most electronics in a persons house as fully owned because the bootloader on their toaster isn't unlocked & open source. I'm not one to adjust the code of my toaster settings to get the perfect browning on a slice. But if I wanted to I can't. What's the fear here? I'm going to use the software to make my own toaster? The software is the easy part, AI makes me programmable toaster code faster then I can toast a piece of bread.
Thats why I spent 4 hours saturday setting up a mini call center on my new pixel phone 11. I need sudo & kernel access in order to perform agentic hooks on the call recording/transcription.
Apple won't let you access the call recording files programmatically.
Stock android won't let you access the database where it's stored.
Unlocked Bootloader android lets you access the files by intercepting them but disables ai core. You'll need to have ai write a patch that merges
here's a GitHub repo that will assist you if you want to do the same. https://github.com/RevanthM/pixel-call-notes-root-sync
I believe fundamentally a new type of OS will emerge over the next few months where the AI deep access to the kernel.
