Some purchased movies on AppleTV are no longer accessible (twitter.com)

It really makes you wonder what their long-term plan is.

If buying no longer means owning because the platform can steal it back at any time, why would anyone ever "purchase" a movie?

Clearly ownership has become meaningless, so how can illegal downloading be "theft"?
