Sounds like a way to launder political contributions for a platform owner who has loudly declared their interest in uk politics. Juice metrics for a sympathetic user (or MP), launder it through bot traffic or use the platform you wholly control to tweak a parameter or two, then turn off the spigot when the rhetoric veers off your course.
If he's not receiving favourable treatment by X and the income he receives is properly declared to whoever needs to know, then I don't see a problem here. Whether or not what he's saying is anymore decisive than the Gov policies he speaks out against is a matter for debate. Where can we have that debate freely apart from X?
