I usually read new all day on and off and still misses the important story somehow that actually affect me, so i built a system that can take care of this problem.
Thalmas keeps a short list of what you use, hold, follow or believe i.e. ("uses Postgres database", "holds TSLA stock"), It reads a pile of feeds and asks three questions about every story: does it touch something on your list, did that thing actually change, and would knowing it today change what you do.
