Fascinating, terrifying. I don't think I was aware that Optogenetics were a thing, much less this article's news that Chemogenetics and DREADDs (designer receptors exclusively activated by designer drugs) are entering human use.

You think you can keep up by staying abreast of frontier models and then the singularity sneaks up behind you in the form of Goo.

chemo/optogenetics have been used for decades to erase memories, change valence of memories, generate memories .... usually fear memories .. in mice.
Cool, I see the health value of this. Now talk about the commercial value that has folks really excited.
