This contest by a colleague was an open-ended experiment with full expectation of AI use, up to and including complete vibe-writing, to say something academically interesting about this passage.

The author is an academic in writing and assessed the submissions through that lens, and the submissions were pretty much what you'd expect: disappointingly vague. Perhaps interesting, completely vibing and only mostly vibing appear to not have made much a difference in the professional reviewer's eyes.

My takeaway is that writing literary analysis is hard.
