It's the dryer that distresses the jeans more, once they have dried and continue to tumble, rather than the amount of water used to wash.
You can see for yourself, if you pull the jeans out of the dryer while barely moist there will be very little blue lint compared to fully dry as a bone where you get a lot.
Shrinkage too, when you remove grams of lint every time, your jeans sure aren't getting any bigger :)
