Ask HN: How do you (AI researchers) convince yourselves that AI isn't terrible?
Obvious parallels with developing nuclear weapons in the forties. I guess one argument is now, if you don't do it, someone else will, but are there AI researchers who actually believe at this point that this is good for humanity.
Because I don't see it. I'll take all the diseases and crt monitors for whatever advances AI is promising at this point.

You have to charge 90 them send a worker who earns 20... before taxes! LOL They go shopping and pay 15 for something that costs 4, 3 of which is admin overhead.
They might not be useless jobs today but it would be great to make it so. Who knows, it might finally free up enough human intelect to change the rat race.
Havent you noticed humans are terrible at everything too? Its a miracle how far we've made it.
