Imagine that we received a message from the deep space saying: "Hello! We are coming, ETA: 30y. Please welcome us with open minds. As a token of good faith, we send you solutions to 1000 of the most popular problems that you struggled to resolve. See you soon!"

People quickly divided into several groups.

There were, as usual, people who said "meh, don't care, I have enough problems already." There were older ones who said "I don't care, I will be dead anyway. And my children don't visit me anyway, so fuck them too."

There were traitors, who immediately accepted their new overlords and appointed themselves the stewards of the future order, hoping that positioning themselves as shepherds of mankind will pay them in the long run, somehow.

And most of the others were cowards: they knew that a chance of a positive outcome for them is close to zero, but they felt powerless. They were afraid to speak against the traitor propaganda which quickly filled all of the information space. They were afraid to be seen as "speciesists".

Some chose to lie to themselves that "someone will find a way around this". Or that "maybe aliens really are going to be good for us". Some of the cowards remembered the history and knew that most of the time, when one country invaded another, the victims responded by defending themselves instead of saying "it's just a new reality, I need to accept it."

But this time, after seeing that some of the received solutions were very advanced, they quickly concluded no defense is possible.

For the first time in the history, there seemed to be nobody who entertained even for a moment the idea that maybe there is a way for humans as a species to advance themselves and try to do something against the seemingly impending doom.

There were no heroes who could lead the people.

The most vocal resistance was just producing videos against the traitors (to farm some likes), or reminding everyone that they had predicted this decades ago.
