I'm not really sure I agree entirely with the premise that plaintext files are going away or becoming less prevalent. I tend to do a lot with plain text files myself, but maybe you're right, maybe I'm kind of old :)

Books are essentially files (chapters) bound together by being coherent, consistent, aligned and building upon each other. This is not something you want to see go away. I have used "The Internet of Unconnected Bytes" for too long.
Putting things together in interesting and valuable ways is a creative act. Files are that way.
