Show HN: Clx 0.4.0 – native compiler for Lua (samyeyo.github.io)

clx is a native compiler that compiles Lua 5.5 scripts to standalone executables. Version 0.4.0 is out, focused on performance and stability :

- New generational garbage collector

- Faster function calls

- Faster table iteration using next(), pairs(), ipairs()

- Faster string operations using SIMD instructions on x64 and ARM64

- Optional dynamic execution of Lua code using an embedded Lua VM with seamless interoperability with native code

- Better stability : several rare crashes caused by values being freed too early while native code was still using them are fixed

- As a real-world test, clx can now compile the Teal compiler into a native standalone executable, and it produces the same output as standard Lua when compiling Teal scripts

- clx is faster than Lua 5.5 in well known Lua benchmark scripts, and competitive with LuaJIT on many of them
