An opinion on how AI coding agents are making software development more productive while replacing some of the challenge, learning, and joy of the craft.

For me, personally, yes genAI absolutely removes most of what makes software development fun and satisfying. It automates the fun stuff and increases the amount of work that is the opposite of fun. It makes the job suck.
